John founded Santa Barbara based Condor Engineering and served as Chief Executive Officer until it was sold 17 years later. During this time, Condor became a leading supplier of aerospace data communication equipment.
John earned an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UCSB and a BS in Mathematics from Boston University.
He is a trustee of the UCSB Foundation, and a member of the UCSB College of Engineering Dean’s cabinet. He serves as a trustee of the Sea Education Association, a nonprofit dedicated to undergraduate ocean education based in Woods Hole, MA. He is on the boards of the Lobero Theater and the Santa Barbara Tennis Patrons. He is chairman of the board of Laxmi Therapeutic Devices, a biotech startup and enjoys mentoring entrepreneurs.
John and his wife, Cheryl Doty, reside in Santa Barbara and have three adult children.
